DISCOVER PALM BEACH COUNTY WINS SILVER, BRONZE IN HSMAI

57th ANNUAL ADRIAN AWARDS COMPETITION

-DPBC to Be Honored at HSMAI Adrian Awards Gala February 24, 2014 in New York-

THE PALM BEACHES, Fla. (December 12, 2013) – Discover Palm Beach County (DPBC) has won a Silver Award for public relations excellence and a Bronze Award for digital marketing in Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International’s (HSMAI) 57th annual Adrian Awards, the world’s largest and most prestigious travel marketing competition. DPBC won Silver for its entry “Rock the Vote in The Palm Beaches and Boca Raton” and Bronze for its “Insider’s and Events Guide.”

DPBC partnered with Rock the Vote and Microsoft to capitalize on global media exposure surrounding the 2012 President Debate in Boca Raton and incentivize travel to the destination. Ultimately, the event garnered more than $642,000 in total media exposure through live streaming and earned media coverage at the local, regional, national and international level, and more than 14,342,000 consumer media impressions around the globe.

“This prestigious Silver Adrian Award for the Rock the Vote campaign underscores our team’s ability to successfully leverage a key historical moment to capture the attention of a global audience,” said DPBC’s President and CEO Jorge Pesquera. “The Bronze Award for our Insider’s and Events Guide is equally rewarding, as we work tirelessly to define and showcase the various visitor experiences within Palm Beach County in the most compelling and efficient way possible. What started as a consumer-driven product has developed into a complete resource for meeting planners, travel agents, media and industry relations.”

This year’s contest attracted more than 1,200 entries from around the world, with entries judged by top executives from all sectors of the industry. On February 24, 2014, HSMAI will honor Discover Palm Beach County at the New York Marriott Marquis during the annual HSMAI Adrian Awards Gala, a black-tie affair attended by more than 1,000 hospitality, travel and tourism marketing executives.

“As the advertising, public relations and digital marketing realms are constantly evolving, the bar is continuously set higher annually in regard to the Adrian Awards submissions we receive,” said Fran Brasseux, HSMAI executive vice president. “This year, we saw outstanding entries in all categories and in particular an ability to implement integrated campaigns that garnered powerful results across multiple channels. We look forward to celebrating these remarkable winners at the Adrian Awards Gala in February.”
