THE PALM BEACHES, Fla. (June 23, 2014) - Discover The Palm Beaches, formerly the Palm Beach County Convention & Visitors Bureau, hosted its first-ever Discover Forum on Thursday, June 19 for executives, staff and industry partners. More than 50 industry representatives attended the inaugural event at the Palm Beach County Convention Center to participate in roundtable discussions with peers and strategize about positioning the destination as the organization prepares its annual Sales & Marketing Plan for the 2014-15 fiscal year.
"Education and collaboration are two of the key components of success for any organization - travel and tourism is no different," said Discover The Palm Beaches President and CEO Jorge Pesquera. "This event not only brought three highly-regarded experts in hospitality, sales and marketing together to share their expertise with Palm Beach County industry representatives, but also allowed our team to engage in meaningful dialogue about these topics with our partners."
Following opening remarks from Pesquera, VISIT FLORIDA's Chief Marketing Officer, Paul Phipps provided an update on Florida's tourism progress and key strategies for 2015. In his role as CMO, Phipps oversees the planning and implementation of the organization's annual Marketing plan and spoke about Florida's initiatives on advertising, editorial content, sales promotions, public relations and research efforts.
Following the rebranding of the destination as The Palm Beaches earlier this year, Duane Knapp, President of BrandStrategy discussed the importance of remaining true to the destination brand including developing and implementing transformation strategies to live the brand and deliver the promise throughout the destination.
Cindy Estis Green, CEO and Co-Founder of Kalibri Labs was the final presenter at the forum, discussing the importance of data analytics, data modeling and intelligence services in the hospitality industry.
Tourism representatives and industry partners were encouraged to provide insights and feedback for inclusion in the Discover The Palm Beaches 2014-15 Sales & Marketing Plan to be presented
this fall. Through two organized roundtables and a networking lunch, guest speakers and industry representatives discussed topics including building on the brand promise, creating a brand culture and revenue strategies in the digital environment.
