DISCOVER THE PALM BEACHES WELCOMES ANGELA LEDFORD AS NEW MANAGER, PUBLIC RELATIONS & COMMUNICATIONS
Expanding County Tourism Organization Strengthens Communications Resources

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 17, 2015) - Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB) announced today that Angela Cruz Ledford has joined the company as its new Manager, Public Relations & Communications. In her new role, she will be responsible for managing regional and state-wide publicity opportunities to cultivate positive coverage of the destination and support the marketing department's efforts to garner increased tourism visitation into the county.

Ledford brings more than a decade of communications experience, an insider's perspective of South Florida news markets and a passion for DTPB's mission. Most recently, she worked as the Media Relations Manager for the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society in West Palm Beach, and she currently volunteers as the Public Relations Director for the Philippine American Society of Palm Beach County. Her previous public relations experience also includes two other non-profit organizations: Impresario's Choice, an arts organization dedicated to showcasing Broadway musicals, and the Philippine-American Association of Northeast Louisiana.

Her journalism background included stints as a news anchor, producer and reporter, with her reports airing on CNN, ABC World News Now and the Today Show. She began her news career in Monroe, Louisiana as the Morning Anchor and Producer at KTVE NBC 10 News and KARD FOX 14. A former elementary and high school teacher, Ledford covered sweeping changes to Louisiana's educational system as the Education Reporter at KTBS 3 News and KPXJ CW 21 in Shreveport, Louisiana. In Florida, she was a Reporter and Multi-Media Journalist at WPTV NewsChannel 5 and WFLX FOX 29 in West Palm Beach, in which she reported for two newscasts nominated for Suncoast Emmy® Awards. Her coverage territory extended from the Space Coast to Fort Lauderdale, while giving her an appreciation for what makes Palm Beach County unique.

"I am fortunate to join such a respected organization as Discover The Palm Beaches, which supports local tourism -- one of the most significant economic drivers in Palm Beach County," said Ledford. "I am excited about this brand-new role, which will allow me to promote my passion for the destination and all it has to offer."

"We're happy to have someone with Angela's public relations and journalism experience as a member of our dynamic marketing team," said DTPB President & CEO Jorge Pesquera. "With her unique background in broadcast media and enthusiasm for The Palm Beaches, we are committed to increasing awareness of our diverse tourism assets and achievements - locally, regionally and throughout the state of Florida."

Ledford holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and a Bachelor of General Studies from the University of Louisiana at Monroe's Honors Program. She serves as the Organist and Pianist of Holy Name of Jesus Church in West Palm Beach, and she has been featured in the New York Times for her lifestyle blog and YouTube beauty channel, "CruzTube."
