Golf Channel's "Big Break The Palm Beaches, FL" Airs February 2

THE PALM BEACHES, Fla. (January 21, 2015) - The new season of Golf Channel's competition series "Big Break," set to premiere February 2, 2015 at 9 p.m., will take place against the tropical backdrop of The Palm Beaches, Florida. Hosted at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, "Big Break The Palm Beaches, FL" will showcase the incomparable year-round golf experience offered within the county.

"The Palm Beaches offers the most impressive golf experience in Florida," said Jorge Pesquera, President and CEO of Discover The Palm Beaches. "In fact, historically, this is where Florida's first 18-hole golf course was built by Henry Flagler. Viewers who tune into ‘Big Break' this winter will realize why we are Florida's Golf Capital®."

The filming of "Big Break" in Palm Beach County provides more than 125 hours of broadcast television spotlighting the best of The Palm Beaches. The program's international reach includes Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America, Ireland, France, the Middle East, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore, to name a few.

The 12-member cast will battle The Bear Trap and each other for a chance to take on the pros at the 2015 Barbasol Championship on the PGA Tour.

Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB) teamed up with the Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council, VISIT FLORIDA, NBC Sports and Golf Channel to bring "Big Break" to The Palm Beaches. DTPB prepared a series of golf-oriented marketing tools surrounding the promotion of the show, including a dedicated golf toll-free telephone number, special landing pages on PalmBeachFL.com, sweepstakes for free stays and golf at PGA National Resort & Spa, and a variety of social media activities.

"We are grateful to PGA National Resort & Spa for leading this effort and Golf Channel for selecting The Palm Beaches," said Glenn Jergensen, Executive Director of the Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council. "Furthermore, this collaborative effort between Discover The Palm Beaches and Palm Beach County's Sports, Film & Television commissions is an example of our community working together to share our incredible golfing assets with the world."

During "Big Break The Palm Beaches, FL," highly-skilled golfers are pitted against each other in a variety of challenges that test their physical skills and mental toughness. One contestant will be eliminated each week with the last player standing awarded his or her Big Break - an opportunity to compete on the PGA TOUR. In its 23rd season, the show has made stops in some of the top golf destinations in the world including previous seasons in Hawaii, Las Vegas and Scotland.

This season, contestants and viewers alike have the opportunity to discover the scenic world-class offerings in Florida's Golf Capital® through the PGA National Resort & Spa's five tour-worthy courses, one of which hosts The Honda Classic, a PGA-sanctioned event. PGA National Resort & Spa offers the complete resort experience, and recently underwent a $100 million revitalization.
