Have A Good ‘Ale’ Time ‘Hoppin’ Around The Palm Beaches’ Expanding Craft Beer Scene
The Palm Beaches is quickly becoming South Florida's craft beer mecca for beer aficionados featuring 10 unique breweries. Venture throughout The Palm Beaches to sip and savor these frosty beverages, or expand your palate at the third annual Palm Beach Summer Beer Fest on July 25 in the Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Cool down in the summer sun at one of South Florida's only indoor craft beer festivals, the Palm Beach Summer Beer Fest. Sample a flavorful blend of more than 150 craft beers from neighborhood breweries while listening to performances by local musicians and national recording artists, including pop rockers Parachute!. Get a first taste of Barrel of Monks and Twisted Trunk, two of the newest brewhouses to make their debut in The Palm Beaches' craft brew scene, joining more than 60 breweries that have opened in the state of Florida since 2011.
Judging for the annual "King of Home Brew" contest will take place throughout the day in two categories - Best Home Brew and Best Label.
Tickets to Palm Beach Summer Beer Fest start can be purchased online. Advanced tickets will be available through July 24, 2015 at discounted rates: $40 for a general admission pass and $75 for a VIP admission pas. Tickets will be available the day of the event from $55 for a general admission pass and $100 for a VIP admission pass. Designated driver admission passes can be purchased for $10 at any time.
With an ever expanding craft beer scene, those unable to make the Palm Beach Summer Beer Fest event can still enjoy a tall, cold pint or growler made locally in The Palm Beaches this summer. Here are a sampling craft breweries and micro-pubs available:
Discover South Florida's only fully-dedicated Belgian-style brewery. Equipped with a state-of-the-art Newlands brewing system, the two-story, 10,000 square-foot facility features a 12-tap tasting room, lounge area, meeting space and a barrel-aging and bottling room.
Brewzzi is one of Florida's most awarded breweries, including Gold and Silver medals at the Great American Beer Festival. Always Brewed-on-site, its German-style lagers accent many of its recipes and complement all its fare. Its kitchen is renowned for enormous portions of quality favorites using the freshest ingredients brought in daily.
With a staple of core beers, including its flagship amber lager, a hoppy IPA a red IPA complete with caramel malts and Mosaic hybrid hops, a Belgian saison and a Belgian wheat brew, Copperpoint Brewing Co. made its debut to The Palm Beaches' craft brew scene in 2015. Its 2,000-square-foot air-conditioned tap room is styled with wood and metal oriented décor and features a suspended and chilled tap system.
Four fermenters are always brewing any of this brewery's four staple beers or the brewer's "Latest Idea." Beers on tap range from light and smooth to rich and creamy to sharp and hoppy, and always include "The Kaiser" Kolsch, "Julio's ‘Jefe'-Weizen," "Gnarly Barley" American Pale Ale and "Terminally Ale" American Brown Ale.
One of The Palm Beaches' newest breweries, Devour Brewing offers 2,600 square-feet of fully air-conditioned brewery space. Relax with a craft beer or munch on grub from various food trucks that pull up out front.
Due South distributes its brews through Florida, from Orlando to Key West. The brewery taproom is a great place to watch the latest batch getting brewed, order a pint, or pick up a growler to go. Pair great beer with street cuisines when food trucks are onsite every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.
Grab a seat an unwind with more than 100 microbrews, 30 wines, 40 teas and 40 shisha flavors available at The Funky Buddha Lounge and Brewery in Boca Raton, FL. Enjoy live music or pick up the microphone at Charity Open Mic Night hosted weekly on Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m.
Saltwater Brewery is Delray Beach's first local production microbrewery with a "Reef Room" for tastings onsite. Using only pure and natural ingredients, special care is given to each batch of hand crafted beer. The brewery is run by a team of Floridians who strive to promote the public to "Explore the Depths of Beer" and educate them on ocean conservation.
Hailed as South Florida's first microbrewery, Tequesta Brewing Co. is an Organically Certified Brewer. Offering seven to eight draft beers brewed onsite, Tequesta Brewing Co. also distributes its brews to bars and restaurants state-wide and sells its golden ales in two-pint and eight-pint growlers.
Recently opened in February 2015, this new addition to The Palm Beaches' collection of craft breweries is named after the banyan tree, the symbol on the city of Palm Beach Garden's seal. Enjoy seven beers on tap, most of which can be packaged in a 32-ounce refillable growler to take home.
