ACHIEVES DESTINATION MARKETING ACCREDITATION
~ Denotes "Commitment to Excellence" In Destination Promotion ~
PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla., June 15, 2009 -The Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau (PBC
CVB) recently received notification that it had been awarded accreditation from the Destination
Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP). This independent international accreditation body is a leader
in defining quality and performance issues in destination marketing, and was developed by the
Washington, DC-based Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI).
The PBC CVB is now one of an impressive list of 98 Destination Management Organizations (DMOs)
worldwide, recognized for their commitment to industry excellence in destination marketing operations.
"Being accredited assures members of the PBC CVB, local government officials, visitors and business
partners that their trust is well-placed, noted Michael D. Gehrish, president and CEO of DMAI. "It
assures these groups that the destination's tourism business is in good hands," Gehrish continued.
The rigorous application process included documenting the agency's compliance with 54 mandatory and
33 voluntary standards. The topics cover a broad range of destination management issues including
finance, technology, brand management, destination development, research/market intelligence, and
more.
Of the designation, Jorge Pesquera, president and CEO of the PBC CVB said, "I am especially proud of
our CVB team and their commitment to successfully securing this industry-respected performance
measure. This accreditation validates our CVB and its dedication to the promotion of Palm Beach
County as a world-class destination." Pesquera continued that the CVB's professional standards of
destination marketing are the result of utilizing innovation and best practices in the agency's operations.
