BETWEEN THE BAHAMAS AND THE PALM BEACHES
-Three weekly flights between PBIA and Marsh Harbour, Bahamas create an opportunity for new inbound travel
as well as new direct flight options for Palm Beach County residents-
The Palm Beaches, FL (June 2, 2011) - Direct air service between The Palm Beaches and Marsh Harbour, Bahamas
via IBC Travel commenced today out of Palm Beach International Airport (PBIA), bringing with it the opportunity to
lure more visitors to The Palm Beaches from the Bahamas as well as domestic visitors across the U.S. using PBIA as a
transfer point between the Islands and their original place of departure. The new service with IBC Travel will offer
passengers service to and from the Bahamas throughout the year three times a week, once daily on Tuesdays,
Thursdays and Sunday.
"It is a pleasure to welcome IBC Travel to Palm Beach International Airport on this occasion of their inaugural service
to Marsh Harbour," said Airport Director Bruce Pelly. "IBC will now start to operate a 30 seat Twin Turboprop Aircraft
three times a week out of The Palm Beaches, with the potential for growth in what we are confident will be a great
new partnership for PBIA."
"According to a 2009 study conducted by VISIT FLORIDA, Florida enjoys roughly 176,000 visitors a year from the
islands of the Bahamas, which carries the potential for growth as airlift into the state increases each year," said Jorge
Pesquera, President and CEO of the Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau. "We at the CVB recognize
the potential for growth specifically to our destination that comes with new airlift, and will work closely with our new
partners at IBC Travel to generate awareness of the new service and promote inbound travel in all markets that could
potentially fly in and out of the Bahamas through its flights."
"Here at IBC Travel we are excited to deliver the well deserved service offering of this market to the Bahamas, we see
great potential in this new development," said Director of Business Development for the Caribbean Richard Rose.
"When you come aboard an IBC Travel Flight you will be welcomed by our friendly, professional staff, comfortable
aircraft cabin, plush leather seats, and exceptional in-flight services. The entire IBC Travel experience was designed to
exceed passenger expectations by combining contemporary design and innovative travel solutions. IBC Travel strives
to provide upscale flying accommodations at a reasonable cost providing passengers the best in-flight experience
within the airline industry."
The new airlift into PBIA, paired with the more than $7.5 million in improvements at the award-winning airport last
year, make this an ideal time for a more aggressive approach into this market. PBIA allows visitors to experience truly
stress-free travel with its convenient location in the heart of Palm Beach County, minutes from top resorts, pristine
beaches, and West Palm Beaches' thriving downtown district. The boutique international airport was voted the third
best airport in the U.S. and sixth best in the world by Conde Nast Traveler readers.
