- Year-round direct flights from West Palm Beach to Tampa will continue service to Tallahassee twice daily -

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla (January 8, 2013) - Palm Beach International Airport (PBIA) welcomed some of the first passengers to arrive from Tampa International Airport (TPA) via two new, non-stop daily flights on Silver Airways between West Palm Beach and Tampa. Following the arrival of the second flight into PBIA, airport officials joined Silver Airways in celebrating the new route with a reception in the airport terminal, after which the second departure to Tampa took off, receiving a water-cannon "send off" on the runway.

Officially commencing yesterday, January 7, 2013, both daily flights continue on from Tampa to Tallahassee, a significant opportunity for both business and leisure travel between West Palm Beach and two of the state's largest hubs for commercial and political activity.

"The opportunity to announce new flights is always something we look forward to at PBIA, because it's not only a chance to welcome even more visitors to our destination every day, but also, to make life easier and more efficient for County residents traveling on business- something we are confident that these routes will do," said Palm Beach County Director of Airports Bruce Pelly. "Via one of our new Silver Airways routes, business travelers in Palm Beach County can leave here in the morning, conduct a full days' business in our State Capital, and be back home by just after 7 in the evening. That is the definition of convenience in travel."

"For our customers in Florida, the continued expansion of our intra-state network presents a convenient, cost-effective alternative to driving benefiting both business and leisure travelers," said David Querio, COO of Silver Airways. "We're proud to expand our base of operations out of PBIA with these new flights, and look forward to even more growth in the future."

Operating with its flagship Saab 340B/plus aircraft with a 34-seat capacity, the year-round, daily flights will leave PBIA at 7:00 a.m. and 1:35 p.m., arriving in Tampa at 8:00 a.m. and 2:35 p.m., respectively. Passengers can continue on to Tallahassee from both flights. The flights then take the same return route, leaving Tampa at 11:35 a.m. and 6:20 p.m., arriving back in PBIA at 12:35 p.m. and 7:20 p.m., respectively.

"The new, year-round flights with Silver Airways are a great addition to PBIA's daily schedule, and we're very excited to see how these well-strategized routes will impact visitation to Palm Beach County," said Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau President and CEO Jorge Pesquera. "We know that in-state travel in our great and sizeable state is critical for both leisure and business travelers in need of a convenient and stress-free way to arrive into our destination, and we're happy to see that our airline partners understand and look to fill that need."
