Palm Beach County CVB Wins Highest Marketing Award at

Florida Governor's Conference on Tourism

THE PALM BEACHES, Fla. (September 10, 2012) - The Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) was awarded the coveted Henry Award on September 5, 2012, at the Flagler Awards presentation held during the Annual Florida Governor's Conference on Tourism at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld. The CVB earned the highest honor in the Social Media Marketing category for the "Lilly Lovers" campaign, a social media contest launched last summer with Palm Beach-born brand Lilly Pulitzer.

"Social media has become an increasingly important part of our marketing strategy," said Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau's President and CEO Jorge Pesquera. "The Lilly Lovers campaign is one successful example of that, and we're honored and encouraged to have won the Henry Award for it."

The CVB team's campaign was formed around National Wear Your Lilly Day - also the first official day of summer - which provided an ideal opportunity to make the connection between Lilly Pulitzer and Palm Beach as a vacation destination. Through coordination with the designer's marketing team, the CVB proposed the Lilly Lovers Day Facebook Photo Contest, encouraging fans to submit their favorite Lilly Pulitzer photo - judged by the brand's head designer - for a chance to win a trip to The Palm Beaches. The CVB reached approximately 2,260,000 Lilly Pulitzer fans with the Palm Beach message and earned the equivalent of more than $33,000 in media value for a campaign, with a cost of just $600 to execute.

The state's annual tourism marketing competition, the Flagler Awards, recognizes Florida's travel businesses and organizations who demonstrate outstanding tourism marketing efforts. Each year, the Flagler Awards honor many of the countless individuals and organizations that help position Florida as a premier travel destination and pay tribute to the determined efforts of those who help ensure the continued success of the state's most important industry.
