-Top-rated in-flight magazine will bring attention to Palm Beach County
to more than five million Delta Air Lines travelers-
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (September 24, 2010)- Community leaders today announced Palm Beach
County will be featured in the December 2010 issue of Sky magazine, the monthly business, travel and
lifestyle publication of Delta Air Lines. The profile section will include more than 24 pages of content
detailing the many reasons to live, work and visit the area. With the publication's estimated 5.3 million
monthly readers, the global coverage is expected to effectively attract more visitors and lure business
opportunities to The Palm Beaches in great numbers.
"Because Sky reaches so many people who are predisposed to travel, the magazine is a very high-value
target for any destination wanting to attract visitors," said Palm Beach County Convention & Visitors
Bureau CEO Jorge Pesquera. "The potential positive impact of this coverage on our local tourism
partners cannot be overstated."
The Palm Beaches will be only the third destination to be covered in Sky since a recent restructuring of
the Profile section. Atlanta and North Dakota were featured in previous issues, making The Palm
Beaches the first destination in all of Florida to be featured in this new format.
"Our award-winning redesign has resonated very well with Sky's readers, marketers and advertisers
alike," said Carsten Morgan, City and Regional Section Director for Sky. "Our profile on The Palm
Beaches will provide engaging and timely editorial for our readers and is a great opportunity to drive
business to Palm Beach County."
"From an economic development standpoint, the timing couldn't be better," said President and CEO of the
Business Development Board, Kelly Smallridge. "Palm Beach County continues to make headlines as
more companies learn of our low cost of doing business, low tax rates, motivated workforce and of
course, our executive lifestyle, which is second to none."
The profile section will focus on economic and community development and the key commerce sectors
that contribute to the area's economy, as well as primary quality of life factors, tourism and hospitality.
In-depth interviews with area leaders and stakeholders, historical tidbits and timelines, maps and
neighborhood profiles, and colorful sidebars on key events and areas of interest will all be supplemented
with breathtaking images of The Palm Beaches throughout the feature.
"This is an incredible opportunity to reach an international audience of millions. With all that West Palm
Beach offers from quality of life to a vibrant downtown business core to amenities like the new
Waterfront and library we expect the impact from this spread to be significant," said City of West Palm
Beach Mayor Lois Frankel.
"We are excited to partner with Delta Air Lines' Sky magazine in representing Palm Beach County,
Florida's Cultural Capital. Culture and the arts are two of the catalysts for the exploding growth in our
creative industries," said Cultural Council Director Rena Blades.
