FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE PALM BEACHES, Fla. (September 13, 2013) – The Palm Beaches will host VISIT FLORIDA’s primary annual industry event, the 47th Annual Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism. The announcement came today during this year’s 46th annual conference in Orlando among more than 700 industry partners. The Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) successfully landed this top-tiered event, which will take place at the Boca Raton Resort & Club, Waldorf Astoria Collection in September 2014.
The Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism is a premier educational conference for Florida tourism, providing an opportunity for all members of the Florida tourism industry to network with fellow travel professionals, learn more about participating in VISIT FLORIDA’s wide range of programs and hear from industry experts and keynote speakers about their proven, hands-on strategies for increasing travel. Attendees can look forward to panel discussions, expert speakers and in-depth breakout sessions. VISIT FLORIDA, the state's official tourism marketing corporation, serves as Florida's official source for travel planning to visitors across the globe.
With Boca Raton Resort & Club slated as the event’s host hotel, Governor’s Conference is anticipated to produce approximately 1,500 room nights, which equates to $1.1 million in estimated economic impact to Palm Beach County.
“We sincerely look forward to welcoming the conference delegates at the 47th Annual Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism,” said Jorge Pesquera, CVB President and CEO. “As the host destination for this event, we look to gain great exposure for the County as we exhibit what is truly The Best Way to Experience Florida.”
“The CVB has worked diligently with our hotel partners at the Boca Raton Resort & Club to bring this conference to Palm Beach County, in addition to two other VISIT FLORIDA events – Florida Encounter in December 2013 and Florida Huddle in January 2014,” said Doug McLain, CVB Senior Vice President of Global Sales. “What better way to showcase our premier destination than to bring tourism industry representatives to The Palm Beaches.”
“Florida’s tourism industry looks forward to gathering in Palm Beach County for the 2014 Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism,” said Will Seccombe, President and CEO at VISIT FLORIDA. “The Governor’s Conference is a time for celebrating the successes of our industry leaders while looking ahead to growing Florida as the No. 1 travel destination in the world.
