The Palm Beaches Eagerly Kick Off High Season at International Polo Club Palm Beach

First Match Symbolizes Start of Full Social Calendar through April

THE PALM BEACHES, Fla. (January 11, 2013) - On Sunday, January 6, 2013, the first polo match of the year at the International Polo Club Palm Beach officially marked the return of season in The Palm Beaches & Boca Raton. The highly anticipated "high season" runs through April and is the peak of social activity in the county, with a calendar including some of the destination's most exciting sporting and cultural events.

"As always, we're delighted to announce the arrival of high season in The Palm Beaches," said Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau President and CEO Jorge Pesquera. "From polo and other sporting events, to arts, culture and dining, we welcome everyone to experience the diversity and excitement of our destination this winter."

Polo marks the start of season, but equestrian enthusiasts will also enjoy the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival, the world's largest and longest-running horse show, beginning January 9, 2013 at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. The festival attracts the world's top dressage and show jumping competitors to participate in weekly competitions through March.

Beyond four-legged festivities, the 2013 Palm Beach event calendar includes an impressive selection of art shows and festivals attracting local, regional and international visitors. The American International Fine Art Fair (February 5-10, 2013) and the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show, starting February 15, are two of the largest art and antique events in Palm Beach, drawing renowned sellers and buyers to The Palm Beaches each year.

The Allianz Championship in Boca Raton and the Honda Classic at the PGA National Resort & Spa are two of the destination's premier sporting events, each attracting some of the greatest names in golf to the area. The Old Course at Broken Sound is host to the Allianz Championship (February 4-10, 2013), which is free to the public, and hosts legendary golfers for a series of tournaments, clinics and events. The Honda Classic (February 25-March 3, 2013) is nearly a week of exciting events, with golf pros teeing off on the legendary Champion Course.

Foodie fans can feast on a weekend full of culinary delights and spirits at Boca Bacchanal, a celebration of the local flavors of The Palm Beaches, kicking off Friday, March 22. The event culminates on Sunday, March 24 with The Grand Tasting, featuring specialties from 30 local chefs and restaurants, 140 featured wines and a Beer Garden.

The 28th annual Palm Beach International Boat Show (March 21-24, 2013) is one of the top 10 boat shows in the world, featuring more than $350 million worth of boats, yachts and accessories from the world's leading marine manufacturers. Off the water, the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction drives into town April 4-6, 2013, offering auto enthusiasts everything from classic cars to unique automobile relics at the South Florida Fairgrounds.

The season will conclude with the USPA Maserati 109th U.S. Open Polo Championship Final on April 21, 2013. For a full list of season events and special hotel packages, visit www.PalmBeachFL.com.
