A Run Through the Tropics
The weather was perfect for a marathon. Not too hot…not too cold. The new straighter route made for even faster times. The wide open space of the Waterfront area made the start and finish areas great for runner prep and spectator viewing.
The Palm Beaches Marathon Festival took runners and speed walkers through downtown West Palm Beach, historic neighborhoods, and alongside Lake Worth Lagoon. When the starting gun went off, the vista before the runners was Flagler Drive, the island of Palm Beach across the water, and West Palm Beach’s historic neighborhoods - a mighty fine course all around.
In 2010 this event was not just a marathon, but a full festival. Everyone got into the action. There was something for every age and every race level. The half-marathon, 5K, Kid’s Marathon, Marathon Relay Team Bike Tour, and the Expo, were just a few of last year’s highlights.
Cool Facts
Don’t forget about the after the race activities. Spectators and viewers can celebrate the finish in the CityPlace District. It is so easy to enjoy the District’s restaurants, bars, nightclubs, shops, movies, live music on weekends or hop on board the free trolley to connect to Clematis Street District, the new Waterfront and City Commons.
