Frequently asked questions:

  • Who can be a Palm Beach County Diplomat?
Anyone with a passion for the County’s well being and quality of life who enjoys a position of influence at a regional, national or international level with their respective affiliations. For example, a professor at FAU who regularly participates in education symposiums or a bank vice president who attends national conferences with a potential to be booked in Palm Beach County could be likely candidates.
  • Is training required to be a Diplomat?
This is optional but certainly recommended. The bureau is able to provide you with simple selling techniques on how to secure information about the size of an event, the names of key decision makers as well as ways to determine the next steps in the sales process. Some basic knowledge about the size of our convention facilities, supplier network, CVB services, and collateral/web resources is part of the “Diplomat Toolkit” which will be available to all registered Diplomats.
  • Do I need to register?
Yes, we need basic information about your current position affiliations, and contacts so we can keep you updated on new facilities, events and networking events. The Bureau will be issuing brief bulletins on a regular basis to keep Diplomats well informed of new “selling” tourism tools and products.
  • Is there a cost?
No, on the contrary, Diplomats will benefit from invitations to bureau events and regular updates. A Diplomat recognition program will also be part of the program, to reward the most active members who refer qualified leads to our sales team.
