Director of Florida’s Office Tourism, Trade and Economic Development

When Governor Charlie Christ appointed Dr. Dale Brill to head the state’s Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development, he noted, “Dale’s strong background and experience will serve this administration well as we continue to nurture an economic climate that encourages diverse, high-wage business to expand and re-locate to Florida.”

At the time, Dr. Brill was the Chief Marketing Officer for VISIT FLORIDA, the state’s official tourism industry marketing corporation. During his four-year tenure with VISIT FLORIDA, he was responsible for overseeing all advertising, Internet, public relations and promotional programs for the Florida tourism industry. VISIT FLORIDA’s success is easily measured; its partner-base, has grown from 407 to over 3,400, and state-wide tourism tax revenues have infused more than $57 billion in to the state’s economy.

Dr. Brill formerly worked with the General Motors Corporation where he directed business and information technology integration to improve the company’s global market share and developed global transformation initiatives.

His passion for innovation and entrepreneurialism has garnered several high-profile recognitions including Fast Company Magazine’s list of “Fast 50 Innovators,” and named as one of the 25 Most Extraordinary Minds of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International.

After earning his doctorate at the University of Tennessee, Dale served on the full-time faculties of both Boston University and Florida State University.
