Palm Beach County Racks Up 43 Consecutive Months of Positive RevPAR

Palm Beach County currently ranks 1st in the state in rooms sold growth for Calendar Year-to-Date compared with 2012.
  • Occupancy was 64.2%, up 9.2% from 2012, positive for 42 out of the last 45 months
  • Average Daily Rate (ADR) was $107, up 2.3% over 2012, positive for 36 out of the last 39 months
  • Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) was $68, up 11.7% over 2012; 43 consecutive months of positive growth Upgrades Spark Visitor and Partner Interest
August: received more than 289,000 visitors, representing a 36% annual increase from August 2012 and giving a fiscal year-end total of more than 1 million visitors. More than 6,000 referrals were made to hotel partner websites. Page views were also up 36%.

CVB Receives First Two Rounds of Approval for New Tourism Identity

The Palm Beach County CVB announced its formal recommendation for the first-ever tourism identity for Palm Beach County – Discover The Palm Beaches Florida – with rotational taglines – The Best of Everything and The Best Way to Experience Florida. The CVB will undergo three levels of approvals for the recommended tourism identity, the first two of which were completed by the CVB Board of Directors and the Tourist Development Council.

The recommended tourism identity will now go before the Board of County Commissioners for final approval, after which a creative team will begin developing new brand tools such as graphics, logos and visuals which will be integrated into all marketing materials. The CVB Board also approved a shift in organization identity from Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau, to Discover Palm Beach County, with a by-line, The Official Tourism Marketing Organization. The new organization name will go into effect throughout the new fiscal year.

CVB Earns Highest Marketing Award at Governor’s Conference

The Palm Beach County CVB was awarded a coveted Henry Award at the Flagler Awards presentation held during the Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism on September 11th at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando. With a record-breaking 203 entries for this year’s awards, the CVB earned the highest honor, the Henry Award, in the Special Events category for its Rock the Vote in The Palm Beaches and Boca Raton Live Concert and Screening of the 2012 President Debate, which took place in October 2012 during the final debate at Lynn University.

The CVB also earned a Bronze Award in the Tourism Advocacy category for the Travel Rally Day Campaign.

The Flagler Awards, the state’s annual tourism marketing competition, recognize travel businesses and organizations who demonstrate outstanding tourism marketing efforts. The Flagler Awards honor individuals and organizations that help position Florida as a premier travel destination and pay tribute to the determined efforts of those who help ensure the continued success of the state's most important industry.

Vote Worth Avenue as the Nation's Most Iconic Street

Worth Avenue is in the running to be selected as America’s Favorite Iconic Street. The contest is hosted by, a division of USA Today Travel. Titanic Resurfaces at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium

The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium has landed a major upcoming exhibit – the legendary Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition. The exhibit brings nearly 100 priceless artifacts on display, which is set to begin November 16th and continue through April 2014. Be sure to stop by the Science Center to travel back in time to 1912 to begin a chronological journey through the life of Titanic, moving through the Ship’s construction, to life on board and the ill-fated sinking and amazing artifact rescue efforts.


Flagler Museum Receives National Preservation Award

The Flagler Museum was recently honored with the prestigious 2013 Ross Merrill Award for Outstanding Commitment to the Preservation and Care of Collections. Award committee members from the Heritage Preservation and the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works were impressed by the museum’s success in the face of adversity, including saving Whitehall from demolition and decades of restoration and preservation. The Flagler Museum is the first Florida organization to receive this honor since its establishment in 1999.


The Gardens Mall Introduces New Retailers, Renovations and Expansions

The Gardens Mall continues to reinvent its 1.4 million sq. ft. of unparalleled luxury retail with the addition of specialty stores and the expansion of best-in-class, iconic brands. Jimmy Choo, an iconic luxury retailer, and Everything But Water, the women’s specialty swimwear retailer, recently opened their boutiques within The Gardens Mall. Connect Marketplace – Milwaukee, WI

Senior Director of Sales for the Affinity Markets, Connie Hunter attended this elite industry appointment-only event. She participated in 45 one-on-one appointments with qualified planners, which successfully brought eight leads, 20 prospects and 80 contacts. The CVB also co-hosted an evening reception at the revolving Polaris Club, in which more than 50 planners attended.

Trendy Tours Motor Coach Travel Expo & Luncheon – Naples, FL

Director of Sales for North America, Eda Ruddock participated in this Travel Expo and Benefit Luncheon, which garnered 60 new contacts and 10 prospects.

Global Meetings & Incentives Travel Exchange – New York City, NY

Director of Sales for the Northeast, Susan Carlson attended this highly regarded event with 50 planners and one-on-one appointments, generating 11 prospects and 20 new contacts. The CVB hosted an exclusive client dinner at Bar America following the closing reception.

The Big Apple Meets The Palm Beaches

The CVB partnered with JetBlue Airways and PBIA to bring exclusive vacation offers within The Palm Beaches to New York City area residents.

This JetBlue Getaways campaign brought a Fall Travel Escapes’ message to the New York travelers:

“Palms. Beaches. Deals. Three Great Reasons to Go.”

The campaign ran throughout the month of September, offering discounted rates for travel to the destination through November 20th.

The Palm Beaches Lands New Nonstop Flights from The Bahamas and Orlando

Palm Beach International Airport has new nonstop services from two major markets, The Bahamas and Orlando. Silver Airways will launch new direct flights from West Palm Beach to North Eleuthera and Freeport in The Bahamas, and two nonstop flights each weekday between West Palm Beach and Orlando, giving corporate and leisure travelers the only nonstop service between West Palm Beach and Orlando. The flight schedules, set to begin November 21, also add a one-stop service from PBIA to Tallahassee through Orlando. Click here for more information or visit to view the flight schedules.

BahamasAir is also introducing new nonstop flights from Nassau to PBIA beginning November 11th. Flights are scheduled for Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays departing PBIA at 2:30 p.m. and arriving at 3:30 p.m. Flights from Nassau will depart at 12:45 p.m. and arrive in West Palm Beach at 1:45 p.m. PBIA and The Palm Beaches now serve four Bahamas destinations.


Mi Viejo San Juan - JetBlue and PBIA San Juan Mail Campaign

The CVB, Palm Beach International Airport and JetBlue Airways worked together to push out a mailer to 40,000 Puerto Rican families in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties.

The mailer, “Mi Viejo San Juan,” which translates to "My Old San Juan," featured a promotion with 25% off airfare from Palm Beach to San Juan.



#Celebrity Sighting #Giveaway

The Palm Beaches is known for its sightings of the rich and famous strolling along the shaded streets, enjoying the beach and dining in local restaurants. The Social Media Team is promoting the Celebrity Sighting Giveaway campaign throughout September. The team asked consumers: Next time you’re visiting The Palm Beaches, which celebrity would you like to run into and what would you ask her/him? The winner is sure to have some fun at CityPlace with two $50 gift cards at City Cellar Wine Bar & Grill and a $100 Tommy Bahama gift card along with a two-night stay at the Doubletree Hotel in Palm Beach Gardens.

Winner announced for August Monthly Sweepstakes

The CVB's August sweepstakes, Bike Ride Epiphany Giveaway, collected 212 responses. Participants discussed what revelation they experienced while riding a bicycle, just as Einstein thought up the Theory of Relativity. The winner received a two-night stay at the Embassy Suites Palm Beach Gardens and a Worth Avenue and Grand Mansion-guided bicycle tour of Palm Beach, compliments of Palm Beach Bicycle Trail Shop and Island Living Tours.
