Top of the State in Occupancy Growth and 42 Consecutive Months of Positive RevPAR

Palm Beach County currently ranks 1st in the state in occupancy growth and 2nd in rooms sold growth from July 2012 – July 2013.
  • Occupancy was 65.7%, up 6.8% from 2012, positive for 41 out of the last 44 months
  • Average Daily Rate (ADR) was $112, up 1.5% over 2012, positive for 35 out of the last 38 months
  • Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) was $73, up 8.4% over 2012; 42 consecutive months Upgrades Spark Visitor and Partner Interest

July: received more than 88,000 visitors, representing a 21% annual increase from July 2012. Referrals to hotel partner websites were up 14.2%, totaling more than 16,400 referrals. Page views were up 16.5%, totaling more than 259,500 page views.

More than 5,100 customer requests for information in July
The CVB received 5,129 requests from consumers, meeting planners, travel agents, tour operators and wedding planners as a result of paid advertising placements, reader-response cards, significant earned media, direct consumer eNewsletter, online/web requests and in-bound telephone calls.

The CVB's Hotel Performance Dashboard is a report of the latest industry performance measures for Palm Beach County, gathered through various sources including Smith Travel Research (STR). The data is compiled and analyzed into business intelligence to enable the CVB and tourism partners to make smart business decisions. Access the monthly dashboard here.


Visitor Profile Report Gives Insight into Palm Beach County Market Demographics

The CVB has released key findings from the recently completed Palm Beach County TravelsAmerica Visitor Profile Report, which revealed a total of 5.47 million people visited Palm Beach County in 2012, representing a remarkable 12 percent increase over 2011. This latest visitation figure exceeds the County’s 2007 pre-recession total of 5.38 million and puts the destination on pace to exceed its all-time peak in 2005. The County welcomed more than one million visitors from its top feeder market, New York, bringing visitation from the tri-state metro area to 21 percent of total visitors. Palm Beach Outlets’ Store Lineup

Several building permits have been submitted for shops planned for the eight-acre Palm Beach Outlets, which is located off Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. at I-95. These shops include Ann Taylor, Loft, Rack Room Shoes, Guess Factory Store, Gap Factory, Sketchers, American Eagle, Gymboree, Janie & Jack, Famous Footwear, Banana Republic and Perfumania. Other stores have committed to the Outlets including Whole Foods, Nordstrom Rack, BJ’s Brewhouse and Red Robin Gourmet Burgers. Deck 84 Represented Florida at Great American Seafood Cook-Off

The Florida Department of Agriculture selected Deck 84 in Delray Beach to represent the state of Florida at one of the most prestigious national culinary competitions, the Great American Seafood Cook-Off in New Orleans. Executive Chef Jon Greening competed against 14 top seafood chefs, and heated up the kitchen with his Mango-BBQ Glazed Black Grouper with Lobster-Sweet Corn Griddle Cake and Key West Shrimp. Deck 84 promises an extensive variety of delectable dishes with Asian, Caribbean and American bistro flavors and an array of “Fresh From Florida” seafood.


International Polo Club Palm Beach Named 2013 Business of the Year

In its 10th anniversary season, the International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC) has officially been named the 2013 Business of the Year by the Central Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce. IPC President John Wash accepted the award on behalf of the club. IPC has surpassed all its 2013 goals by tripling memberships, increasing attendance by 63.9% from 2012, and reporting all-time high numbers in food and beverage revenue. The IPC was also the recipient of the 2013 Providencia Award.


Palm Beach International Raceway a Finalist in Venue Excellence

Palm Beach County’s very own raceway, PBIR, was honored by the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) as one of the top three finalists in the Stadiums category at the 2013 Venue Excellence Awards luncheon. The awards were presented at IAVM’s 88th annual conference and trade show, VenueConnect, and recognize venues that demonstrate excellence in community service, professional development, safety and security, and operational excellence.

Fraternity Executives Association – San Antonio, TX

CVB Director of Sales for the Midwest, Nalini Dube-Borzym, participated in this two-day trade show with hundreds of Fraternity Executives and Planners, which successfully garnered five leads, 53 contacts and 12 prospects to the CVB.

Global Travel Marketplace – Fort Lauderdale

Director of Sales for North America, Eda Ruddock, attended this elite appointment-only event with top tier Luxury travel agents. Eda had a full set of 60 one-on-one appointments, which led to 62 valuable contacts and 10 prospects.


Brazil Sports Networking Event

Meeting Planner Training Camp

The CVB Global Sales Team hosted this year’s second Meeting Planner Training Camp at the Omphoy Ocean Resort Palm Beach. More than 30 meeting planners attended this fantastic educational event. The Doubletree Hotel Palm Beach Gardens hosted a site tour and dinner, and the West Palm Beach Marriott provided a presentation to the group.

Brazil Sports Networking Event

The CVB supported a Brazilian networking event at Max's Grille in Boca Raton. Alberto Klar, the Brazilian National Olympic Team’s swim coach with five world records and four Olympic medals, was a featured guest along with Florida Representative Bill Hager, District 89. Local Brazilian businesses and real estate professionals were also in attendance, demonstrating further evidence to the synergies and ties between Brazil and Boca Raton. New growth in Sports Tourism is sprouting within The Palm Beaches, providing a new recruitment effort geared towards the Brazilian market.




First-Ever Nonstop Flight from Los Angeles Lands in The Palm Beaches

Palm Beach International Airport has its first-ever direct connection with the City of Angels via American Airlines. Nonstop flights to and from Los Angeles are now on sale with the flight schedule set to begin November 21, 2013. Rates are currently being offered for round-trip flights on most non-holiday weeks, highly competitive with neighboring Florida regions.

American Airlines also announced new seasonal, nonstop daily flights to New York LaGuardia Airport with the schedule set to begin November 12, 2013 and ending March 31, 2014.

Discover The Palm Beaches by bike! The CVB’s Social Media Team highlighted the destination throughout the month of August with the #BikeRide in #ThePalmBeaches campaign via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google +, Pinterest and LinkedIn. The Bike Ride Epiphany Giveaway is en route, which will give one lucky winner a two-night stay at the Embassy Suites Palm Beach Gardens and a Worth Avenue and Grand Mansion guided bicycle tour of Palm Beach, compliments of Palm Beach Bicycle Trail Shop and Island Living Tours.

The CVB's July sweepstakes, Midsummer Vacation Giveaway, collected 793 responses. Participants chose one thing they would grab first to take on their Midsummer Vacation with the winner taking home four passes to the Palm Beach Zoo, South Florida Science Center and a two-night stay at the Jupiter Beach Resort & Spa.

CVB PR Team prepares for upcoming Media Receptions
The CVB PR Team and Hayworth PR are putting the finishing touches on their invitation-only media reception in New York City and new location – Washington, D.C. – to capitalize on editorial exposure prior to the winter season. Following the D.C. mission, the CVB and its partners will be meeting with Brand USA, the organization formed to increase international visitation to the United States and grow the global travel market, to give an overview of the organization, discuss upcoming marketing opportunities, familiarize the industry with their team and offices, and answer any additional questions.
