CVB Hotel Performance Dashboard highlights industry performance measures
The CVB's Hotel Performance Dashboard is a timely report of the latest industry performance measures for Palm Beach County. The CVB research team gathers data each month from a variety of sources, including Smith Travel Research (STR), which is compiled and analyzed into business intelligence to enable the CVB and tourism partners to make smart business decisions. The dashboard is updated monthly and the May dashboard can be accessed here. The June dashboard can be accessed here.
Continuing the trend of positive occupancy, ADR and RevPAR growth over 2012
Palm Beach County ranked 2nd in the state in hotel occupancy growth and rooms sold for two straight months.
Performance Metrics for May 2013:
Occupancy was 70.1%, up 9.4% from 2012, positive for 39 out of the last 42 months (Since Dec. 2009)
Average Daily Rate (ADR) was $127, up 1.6% over 2012, 33 out of the last 36 months of positive ADR (Since Jun. 2010)
Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) was $89, up 11.2% over 2012; 40 consecutive months of positive RevPAR growth YOY (Since Feb. 2010)
Performance Metrics for June 2013:
Occupancy was 66.7%,up 8.5% from 2012, positive for 40 out of the last 43 months (Since Dec. 2009)
Average Daily Rate (ADR) was $113, up 2.4% over 2012, 34 out of the last 37 months of positive ADR (Since Jun. 2010)
Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) was $75, up 11.1% over 2012; 41 consecutive months of positive RevPAR growth YOY (Since Feb. 2010)
Number of visitors, referrals to partner websites and pages per visit all up over 2012
May: PalmBeachFL.com received more than 76,000 visitors, representing a 16% increase. Referrals to hotel partner websites were up 17%, totaling more than 13,000 referrals. Page views were up 7%, totaling more than 219,000 page views.
June: PalmBeachFL.com received more than 85,000 visitors, representing a 19% increase. Referrals to hotel partner websites were up 11%, totaling more than 15,800 referrals. Page views were up 14%, totaling more than 250,800 page views.
More than 8,000 customer requests for information in May and June
The CVB received 8,342 requests from consumers, meeting planners, travel agents, tour operators and wedding planners as a result of paid advertising placements, reader-response cards, significant earned media, direct consumer eNewsletter, online/web requests and in-bound telephone calls.

“Emeril's Florida” season 1 airs on Food Network
If you missed the chance to see Palm Beach County featured on “Emeril's Florida” earlier this year, you’re in luck! The entire first season of “Emeril’s Florida” including three episodes featuring The Palm Beaches will be airing on the Food Network this summer. The projected viewers per episode is 639,000. You may recall this season was first aired on Cooking Channel in Spring 2013, which was valued at $$$ in earned media exposure. The additional airings on Food Network increase the total earned media value of these episodes by another $$$ (do we know this? If not, lets list Cooking Channels total viewership instead, to show how these airings compare/ support total exposure)

Insiders Guide now available in Portuguese
In an ongoing effort to appeal to the Latin American market, the CVB has translated its Insider’s Guide to Portuguese. These newly printed brochures are given out at Latin American trade shows and media events that the CVB attends. The Insider’s Guide will also be translated into Spanish.

Destination Sales Team delivered positive results in May and June
Key Highlights in May:
- Generated a total of 87 leads representing 43,000 tentative room nights.
- Booked 19 groups with 8,300 definite room nights for April representing $2.9 million in future direct spending.
- Held 19 events/meetings in the county in April, producing 11,000 definite room nights and approximately $3.8 million in direct spending.
Key Highlights in June:
- Generated a total of 79 leads representing 46,000 tentative room nights.
- Booked 18 groups with 4,700 definite room nights for June representing $1.6 million in future direct spending.
- Held 9 events/meetings in the county in June, producing 961 definite room nights and approximately $336,000 in direct spending.

Sales efforts to attract Affinity Markets highlighted in Sun Sentinel As noted in a recent Sun Sentinel article, family reunions continue to be a growing tourism trend in South Florida. CVB Senior Director of Sales for Affinity Markets Connie Hunter was directly quoted in the article speaking on the diversity and rich culture that attracts family reunions to Palm Beach County.
Sales Team busy at numerous meeting planner events, tradeshows and sales missions

IPW (International Pow Wow) – Las Vegas, NV
Director of Sales of North America Eda Ruddock, Director of International Sales Rodrigo Trujillo and representatives from the CVB’s UK agency of record joined more than 1,200 top tour operators from 70 different countries at IPW. The show featured three days of pre-scheduled appointments, as well as many impromptu meetings at the CVB’s booth. The successful appointments garnered over 300 valuable new contacts, over 40 prospects and 15 leads.
Collaborate Marketplace – Denver, CO
CVB Director of Sales of Midwest and West Nalini Dube-Borzym and Senior Vice President of Global Sales Doug McLain attended Collaborate Marketplace and co-sponsored the opening breakfast. The Palm Beach County meetings video was presented to over 350 meeting professionals. Ms. Dube-Borzym had 35 one-on-one appointments at the tradeshow which garnered 13 prospects and three new leads.

PCMA Educational Meeting – Denver, CO
CVB Associate Vice President of Convention Sales Donna Del Gallo joined over 500 meeting planners and suppliers at PCMA’s industry event. In addition to the many networking opportunities at the show, Ms. Del Gallo also hosted several client dinners, reinforcing key Palm Beach County client relations with Professional Conference Management Association’s client members.

German Sales Mission
CVB Director of International Sales Rodrigo Trujillo and representatives from the CVB’s UK agency of record, AviaCircles, showcased The Palm Beaches to top tour operators in Germany and Switzerland during a German Sales Mission. More than 125 product managers and agents were trained on selling Palm Beach County to the German market.

CVB partners with JetBlue during San Juan Sales Mission
The CVB and airline partner JetBlue hosted an evening reception and presentation promoting the nonstop flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Palm Beach International Airport. The event was held at the Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza and attended by major travel industry tour operators, travel agents and corporate accounts. Participating hoteliers included: Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront/Palm Beaches, PGA National Resort & Spa, Omphoy Ocean Resort and The Colony Palm Beach.
JetBlue Getaways marketing campaign
Director of Airlift Development Sophie Gaeta and CVB marketing team are working closely with JetBlue’s marketing, advertising and Getaways team to design and implement a new JetBlue Getaways hotel/air getaway program again this fall. The campaign was a success in 2011 that it helped The Palm Beaches move from a Tier 2 city to a Tier 1 city with JetBlue Getaways, ranking us among some of the top destinations for hotel room nights booked, including New York and Boston. The CVB's latest monthly sweepstakes, Splash Into Summer Giveaway, garnered 988 responses. One lucky winner won passes to Rapids Water Park and 2-night stay at the Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Beach Resort and Spa for creatively captioning the Rapids picture. The sweepstakes was also picked up by the Sun Sentinel.
