Discover Palm Beach County Partners with Brand USA on Foreign-Language Advertisements

The Palm Beaches will soon be advertised to thousands of potential international visitors thanks to the combined efforts and partnership between Discover Palm Beach County, Visit Florida and Brand USA. The three counterparts worked together to produce multilingual videos in Spanish, German and Portuguese, highlighting The Palm Beaches’ attractions, shopping and entertainment.

Each of the two-minute videos will be used on Brand USA’s website,, and DPBC’s website,, in addition to international market promotions. Stay tuned in the coming editions of Discover eNews for the finished products.


Welcome Our New Director of Public Relations & Communications - Scott Schoenen

Discover Palm Beach County has announced the appointment of Scott Schoenen as the Director of Public Relations & Communications. In addition to overseeing PR activities for the leisure, meetings, and convention and travel trade market segments targeted by DPBC, Scott will also manage DPBC's contract with the PR agency-of-record for North America and PR-related opportunities generated through our representation offices in Brazil, Germany and the United Kingdom. Digital Media Campaign Targets Colombian and Brazilian Markets

COMING SOON! The Digital Team at Discover Palm Beach County is strategizing a new digital media campaign targeting Latin American travelers, serving to increase awareness and consideration of The Palm Beaches as a top vacation destination. The digital ads are set to run in June and July 2014, with outreach in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Bogota, Colombia – two major visitor markets to Florida.


PBIA Lands New Nonstop Allegiant Air Service from Asheville

Palm Beach International Airport has a new nonstop, low-cost air service from Asheville, North Carolina. Allegiant Air announced this new connection with flight schedules set to begin May 15th. In celebration of the new nonstop service, Allegiant Air is offering one-way fares as low as $49. The flights operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays. Palm Beach County Hits Record Occupancy in February

Palm Beach County currently ranks 3rd in the state in Occupancy and 4th in the state in ADR and RevPar by monthly comparison over February 2013.
  • Occupancy was 90.0%, up 5.1% from 2013, positive for 48 out of the last 51 months (highest occupancy on record!)
  • Average Daily Rate (ADR) was $216, up 5.1% over 2013, positive for 42 of the last 45 months
  • Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) was $195, up 15.1% over 2013; positive for 49 consecutive months

Luxury Meeting Summits – Columbus & Cincinnati, OH

Director of Sales for the Northeast, Susan Carlson attended these two one-day appointment events, which provided the opportunity for qualified meeting planners to meet in one-on-one appointments with luxury properties and destinations. These summits produced 62 contacts and 53 prospects for DPBC.

Wedding Salon – New York City, NY

Director of Sales for North America, Eda Ruddock attended this event, the world’s largest luxury wedding trade show, and took the opportunity to visit several top NYC travel companies. This show brought 10 leads and 10 contacts for DPBC.

New York Sales Mission – New York City, NY

Director of Sales for the Northeast, Susan Carlson partnered with six Palm Beach County hotels to conduct a great schedule of sales calls to clients in New York City along with a client presentation and entertainment event. This sales mission produced 40 contacts and 30 prospects.

Conference Direct – Anaheim, CA

Director of Sales for the Midwest, Nalini Dube’-Borzym attended this two-day reverse trade show, which gained her access to more than 200 Conference Direct Associates. This show garnered 38 contacts.

March 2014: received more than 146,000 visitors, a 36.7% increase over March 2013. Nearly 10,000 referrals were made to partner websites. DPBC staff sent over 1,000 web leads, requests and inquiries to partners.
