New Tourism Identity Receives Final Approval

The Palm Beach County CVB will begin to transition to the new organization identity, Discover Palm Beach County, The Official Tourism Marketing Organization over the next year. Partners will begin to see the new name as it shifts from the Convention and Visitors Bureau organizational name to Discover Palm Beach County (DPBC).

The destination’s first-ever tourism identity for Palm Beach County – Discover The Palm Beaches Florida – with rotational taglines – The Best of Everything and The Best Way to Experience Florida – received its final round of approval by the Board of County Commissioners during the monthly meeting on October 22nd.

The creative design for the tourism identity, Discover The Palm Beaches Florida, is currently being produced including logos, advertisements and campaigns, which will launch in 2014. Click here for more information.


The Official DPBC Marketing & Sales Plan

The DPBC Marketing & Sales Plan for 2013-14 is now available online. Simply click here to view a copy of the plan. This Marketing & Sales Plan is the roadmap that guides DPBC's efforts for the 2013-2014 fiscal year. The plan has been developed by DPBC staff using research on relevant industry and consumer trends, Visit Florida marketing strategies as well as input and insights from the Strategic Marketing Council, partner surveys and the Board of Directors.


ConventionSouth Magazine Selects The Palm Beaches as Top Group Haven

The editors of ConventionSouth Magazine, a national multimedia resource for planning events that are held within the South, have officially announced their 2014 list of the “South’s Surprising Recreational Havens For Groups,” including The Palm Beaches as one of 12 selected destinations. This inaugural list showcases destinations in the South that offer a surprising amount of recreational opportunities such as golfing, hiking and watersports, as well as numerous places to hold meetings and events.

Condé Nast Traveler Recognizes Five Top Hotels & Resorts in The Palm Beaches

The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards have been announced with five of The Palm Beaches’ hotels and resorts falling in the lineup of Top Florida Hotels and Top Florida Resorts.

Most notably, The Brazilian Court Hotel & Beach Club ranks No. 1 in the Top 20 Florida Hotels category, with The Seagate Hotel & Spa also making the list at No. 17. Amongst the Top 40 Florida Resorts category, The Breakers Palm Beach came in at No. 6, Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach at No. 10 and the Boca Raton Resort & Club at No. 39.


West Palm Beach Marriott Earns Recognition as Hotel of the Year

DPBC congratulates the West Palm Beach Marriott and its General Manager Cheri Rutledge on receiving the Palm Beach County Hotel & Lodging Association’s prestigious Hotel of the Year Award! This award was announced at the 2013 Palm Beach County Hotel Day Association Luncheon.


The Gardens Mall Hosts Successful Concierge Appreciation Event

The Gardens Mall hosted a very successful 3rd Annual Concierge Appreciation event. The event brought together local concierges to enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks, win prizes, see old friends and make new ones. Shops opened up their doors to the group, allowing them to get the full shopping experience at The Gardens Mall.


CityPlace Gains a New Shopping Mecca – H&M

Several hundred shoppers lined up at CityPlace as the new H&M store celebrated its grand opening. This trendy retailer gives shoppers just one more excuse to stop by CityPlace. The first 100 people received a gift card, valued up to $300. This marks the third H&M store in Palm Beach County with two others at The Gardens Mall and the Mall at Wellington Green.

Top of the State in Rooms Sold and 44 Consecutive Months of Positive RevPAR

Palm Beach County currently ranks 1st in the state in rooms sold growth and 2nd in occupancy growth for Calendar Year-to-Date compared with 2012.
  • Occupancy was 57.9%, up 7.7% from 2012, positive for 43 out of the last 46 months
  • Average Daily Rate (ADR) was $101, up 3.9% over 2012, positive for 37 out of the last 40 months
  • Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) was $59, up 11.9% over 2012; positive for 44 consecutive months

Key Highlights in September:

  • Generated a total of 45 leads representing 25,866 tentative room nights
  • Booked 22 groups with 6,282 definite room nights for September representing $2.2 million in future direct spending
  • Held 14 events/meetings in the county, producing 7,949 room nights and approximately $2.8 million in direct spending

Associate Vice President of Convention Sales for the Mid-Atlantic, Donna Del Gallo attended a reception at the Four Seasons in Georgetown, which brought together more than 100 industry personnel from this Association.

HPN Annual Conference – Amelia Island, FL

Associate Vice President of Group and Meeting Sales, Steve Crist attended this high-profile event, resulting in 14 contacts and 6 prospects for DPBC.

HelmsBriscoe Tim Cup Invitational – Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, WI

Senior Vice President of Group Sales, Doug McLain attended this Palm Beach County event which showcased the destination to more than 250 Brazilian golf enthusiasts.



PBIA Lands Three Nonstop Flights from Montreal, Canada

Air Canada and Palm Beach International Airport have announced a new nonstop connection from Montreal to PBIA. The seasonal flight is set to launch December 20th through April 30th, with available flights each Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

This marks the first time The Palm Beaches have booked three nonstop flights out of Montreal. The inbound Flight 1210 will depart Montreal at 9:10 a.m. with an expected arrival time to PBIA of 12:40 p.m. The outbound Flight 1211 will depart PBIA at 9:25 p.m. and arrive in Montreal at 12:40 a.m.


Five New Flights Set to Land at PBIA in November

Palm Beach International Airport will be seeing a lot more traffic come November with the inaugural flight from Los Angeles as well as flights to and from Orlando, Nassau, Freeport and North Eleuthera. The flight launches are scheduled as follows:

DPBC PR Team hits the road for Media Receptions in New York and Washington, D.C.

The DPBC PR Team and Hayworth PR traveled to Washington, D.C. and New York for their invitation-only media receptions. The team hosted a luncheon in Washington D.C. at the National Building Museum as well as a reception in New York City at the Museum of Modern Art.

The event garnered a great deal of media attendance including 13 outlets in Washington D.C., which garnered accommodating coverage by USAENews and the Washingtonian. Nearly 30 media outlets attended the New York reception including Travel + Leisure, Frommer’s, New York Post and Wall Street Journal, to name a few.

  • Print: 1 placement, 27,000 impressions

  • Radio/Cable TV: 1 placement, 235,000 impressions Upgrades Spark Visitor and Partner Interest

September: received more than 93,000 visitors, representing a 40% annual increase from September 2012 and giving a fiscal year-end total of more than 1 million visitors. Nearly 6,000 referrals were made to hotel partner websites. Page views were also up 40%.
