Meet Puerto Rico Honors Kiko Pesquera
Message from Jorge Pesquera, DTPB President & CEO:
I had the privilege to accept an award posthumously bestowed on my father for his pioneering work on behalf of Puerto Rico Convention Bureau – now known as Meet Puerto Rico. This ceremony was the first annual Tourism Hall of Fame presentation which will permanently be named the Gilberto “Kiko” Pesquera award.
In my remarks, I highlighted my father’s extraordinary communication skills which he honed as a sportscaster and university professor, as well as his pride and passion for the Island he called home. Armed with a minimal budget and no technology tools, he put Puerto Rico on the map as a destination for national and international events. Here is a link to the article on Caribbean Business regarding the award.

Florida Governor's Conference on Tourism Brings Big Ideas and Big Stars
Florida tourism leaders unveiled a series of marketing efforts designed to lure more millennial and international visitors at the Florida Governor's Conference on Tourism. These efforts include partnerships with National Geographic, Telemundo, iTunes.com and Google Play.
A hospitality training program will ensure there are enough employees to serve the increasing number of travelers to the state. The first module will be launched by Nov. 1 and be available year-round to its marketing partners and destination marketing organizations.
And to top off the fun, well-known rapper and Palm Beach County resident, Vanilla Ice, headlined an impressive collaboration of artists at the conference, performing for nearly 1,000 tourism representatives at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. Thanks go to our sister TDC agencies, the Cultural Council in particular, for their support in hosting this third major Visit Florida conference secured through DTPB's Global Sales Team.
