Discover The Palm Beaches At The South Florida Fair

As part of this year's 17-day Fair, Discover The Palm Beaches has been named the official theme of the exposition. From January 15th-31st, fair attendees will be able to learn why The Palm Beaches is the best way to experience Florida. Visitors can also experience the "Olympusat Theater of The Palm Beaches" in the expo. Please visit the South Florida Fair website for more information. Discover The Palm Beaches would like to congratulate the 2015 Providencia Award recipient, Loggerhead Marinelife Center! The 2015 Providencia Award winner was announced on December 3rd at our Discover Connections: Providencia + Holiday Celebration at the PGA National Resort and Spa. Thank you to everyone who made it out to the event. The Providencia Award is Palm Beach County's most important symbol of recognition for the local tourism/hospitality industry. It is awarded each year to an individual, institution, corporation or organization that is making an extraordinary and positive impact on local tourism.

Florida State Senators and Hospitality Professionals Focus On Tourism At FRLA Roundtable

On Thursday, December 17th, Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association (FRLA) hosted a roundtable discussion with Senators Latvala and Clemens at The Breakers Palm Beach. This roundtable consisted of Palm Beach County officials and tourism industry professionals including Verdenia Baker - County Administrator, Commissioner Melissa McKinley, Glenn Jergensen- TDC Executive Director, Jorge Pesquera - DTPB, TDC agency representatives, Jason Emmett - Duffy's Sports Grill and new FRLA Chapter President, key hoteliers and Lois Croft, local FRLA chapter director. The event was hosted by David Burke EVP at The Breakers. Discussions focused on current tourism issues and their impact on state and local tourism performance and the economy.

Hilton West Palm Beach Hotel Set To Open End of January 2016

January is the ideal time for the Hilton WPB to open to capitalize on the high season. This spectacular new property will provide The Palm Beaches with the edge needed to attract larger conventions and conferences. "We are finally able to target conventions that typically require 500 to 900 rooms on peak night that maximize the impact on the downtown Arts, and Convention District and our beautiful Convention Center. We now offer over 1,100 hotel rooms that are walkable to the convention center," said Kelly Cavers, SVP-Group Sales. Superior Small Lodging Association (SSLA) Annual Conference A Success

The Superior Small Loding Association held its Annual Conference at the Delray Center for the Arts on December 6th and 7th. Nicki Grossman, head of the Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB, was the conference's keynote speaker. This annual conference gives small indepedent innkeepers the opportunity to meet and share ideas and experiences with others of the same industry. A trade show was offered for the attendees, mainly owners and managers of lodgings of 50 rooms or less, to networking with allied members, area attractions, destination partners (DMO's) and other industry leaders and professionals. The conference gave innkeepers from all over the U.S. the opportunity to explore the beauty of Delray Beach, one of the reasons The Palm Beaches is the best way to experience Florida.

Palm Beach County Hits 70 Consecutive Months of RevPAR Growth

Palm Beach County currently ranks 3rd in the state for Growth in Rooms Available and 4th in the state for RevPAR compared to January - November 2014.

  • Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) was $102, up 2.2% over 2014; positive for 70 consecutive months
  • Average Daily Rate (ADR) was $143, up 3.0% over 2014, positive for 30 consecutive months
  • Occupancy was 71.4%, down -0.8%, positive 60 out of the last 72 months.

2015 American Cup Golf Invitational - The Palm Beaches, FL

The Palm Beaches hosted the first America Cup to be held outside of California. 35 key influencers from golf tour operators were here to experience our internationally-famous resorts, boutique shops and of course, golf. Throughout the four-day event the clients were able to experience PGA National Resort & Spa, The Seagate Hotel & Spa, The Breakers Palm Beach, Hilton Singer Island, Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Resort & Spa, Boca Raton Resort & Club, Delray Beach, and the Loggerhead Marine Life Center. Many of the event's functions were attended by several Discover staff. The Event attendees raved about the destination and are planning new business opportunities to increase visitation from key international markets.

December Destination Review - The Palm Beaches, FL

The Sales Department welcomed eight meeting planners from across the United States to enjoy three days in The Palm Beaches. The group participated in a Destination Review of the Downtown Convention and Entertainment District hosted by the West Palm Beach Marriott. They enjoyed a tour of the Palm Beach County Convention Center, as well as a wide selection of our Convention Center hotels. The group was able to learn about the history and culture of Palm Beach on the West Palm Beach Food Tour as well as the Island Living Tour. The group experienced a fantastic dinner at The Breakers at their world famous restaurant HMF before departure.

Discover's Steve Crist attended this year's Florida Encounter. VISIT FLORIDA's annual show is the premier appointment-based trade show showcasing all the Sunshine State has to offer for meetings, conventions and incentive professionals. Steve's efforts brought in three new meeting/convention opportunities for The Palm Beaches.

Kelly Cavers, Dori Jensen and Jorge Pesquera attended the IAEE Expo held in Baltimore, MD. IAEE Expo is a two-day event with over 50 educational sessions, a tradeshow marketplace for tradeshow and exhibit professionals and networking events. Discover The Palm Beaches was the sponsor of the Wednesday General Session and speaker, Porter Gale. Our sponsorship allowed for a highly impactful presentation to 1300 attendees which resulted in much increased interest and customer traffic visiting The Palm Beaches booth.

16 Travel Writers Welcomed By Discover The Palm Beaches

This month the Public Relations and Communications team at Discover The Palm Beaches welcomed 16 travel writers to The Palm Beaches, including two international group media FAMs that highlighted several of our destination partners. Immediately following the Thanksgiving holiday, five Brazilian journalists from the following publications discovered a range of luxury, spa, retail and culinary experiences throughout the destination: Top Destinos Luxury Magazine, Harper´s Baazar/Folha de SP, Correio Popular de Campinas Daily Newspaper, Viajar Pelo Mundo and Estado de Minas.

DTPB Staff and local tourism professionals are excited for the new direct airline service from Toronto

Direct WestJet Service To The Palm Beaches Now Available

In support of the new direct WestJet service from Toronto to Palm Beach International Airport, a group of six Canadian journalists were hosted from December 11th to December 14th. Participating media outlets included representatives from La Metropole, Yahoo! Canada, London Free Press/Sun Media and TravelWeekCa. Individual media visits included journalists from the Matador Network, Miami Living Magazine, AA Nexos in-flight magazine, Great Golf Magazine and TheMintedMama.com.
