TDT Possible Changes

Important: Quick Action Today!

The House Finance & Tax Committee is continuing to propose that almost 10% of Tourist Development Tax dollars be used for local government operations such as law enforcement. Any decrease in TDT funding would result in less money utilized specifically for marketing The Palm Beaches. The Senate Appropriation Committee is meeting on Tuesday, March 1st. Today, one more time, please reach out to the key members of the Senate Appropriation Committee and ask them to support Senator Hukill's strike all amendment to the House Tax Reduction Package, HB 7099. To see a sample letter that you can send and to identify your legislators, go to this website.

Another record for The Palm Beaches--6.9 million visitors

The Palm Beaches See 6.9 Million Visitors In 2015 - A Record!

Discover The Palm Beaches is happy to announce that the county has hit another year of record visitation! With 6.9 million visitors, this was a whopping 10% increase from 2014. This means that over 600,000 new individuals have been spending money in shops, restaurants, bars, hotels, and attractions all around the county. "We saw a significant increase from our key target markets, particularly those where we made tactical investments and customized our message to resonate with that specific audience," said Jorge Pesquera, CEO and President of DTPB. DTPB expects to benefit in 2016 from over 1,000 new hotel rooms now available in The Palm Beaches.

Florida Tourism Hits Record Of 105 Million Visitors
During a press conference at Epcot, Gov. Rick Scott announced Florida set another record in tourism by welcoming 105 million visitors in 2015

Florida Tourism Hits Record -- 105 Million Visitors

Governor Rick Scott announced earlier this month that Florida welcomed over 105 million visitors in 2015. This historic record marks the state of Florida's fifth consecutive year for visitation growth. Another record was the 1.2 million Floridans employed in the hospitality and tourism industry which had a 4.7% increase. Visit Florida estimates that 89.8 million visitors were domestic, which was an 8% increase from 2014; 11.2 million visitors from overseas; and 4 million visitors were from Canada. February Guest Service Tip: Be Transparent

One of the first steps to being a transparent company is to give your guests a way to provide feedback. Many businesses are weary of giving guests a channel to share their experiences, mainly because there's no way to control what will be said. Even if you don't provide a way to give feedback, guests will always find a way (TripAdvisor, Urbanspoon, Yelp, Google reviews, etc.). Always be sure to reply to guest comments, especially the negative ones. When you reply in a public way with "I'm sorry you experienced this. I just sent you an email so we can resolve your situation," other guests will see that and know you care about their experience. Contact DTPB at to receive your complimentary promo code for VISIT FLORIDA's free Online Hospitality Training Program.
