Service to Minneapolis/St. Paul beings December 16, 2016

New, Nonstop Service on Sun Country Airlines from Minneapolis/St. Paul to PBI

Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) has announced seasonal, nonstop service between Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota and The Palm Beaches. This is a new partnership with Sun Country Airlines which is the Twin Cities' hometown airline. The flight schedule will begin December 16th and will operate four times each week through April 16, 2017. "Sun Country's nonstop flight to PBI from Minneapolis/St. Paul offers Midwesterners a tropical escape," said Bruce Pelly, director of Airports for Palm Beach County. New "Windows on the Floating World" Exhibit at Mounts Botanical Garden

Construction will begin this fall at Mounts Botanical Garden for a new permanent exhibit called 'Windows on the Floating World.' It will be a series of see-through walkways and permanent and moveable aquatic plants that will allow visitors to feel and connect to the tropical wetlands around them. "Most importantly, our Windows on the Floating World exhibit will be a place for demonstration and education," said Rochelle Wolberg, Director of Programs and Interim Operations Manager at Mounts. "This environmental installation will provide an immersive experience for visitors, prompting them to more closely examine the nature surrounding them and its inner workings."

Jupiter Outdoor Center Summer Adventure Camp

The Jupiter Outdoor Center Summer Adventure Camp is an aquatic day camp program that has been exciting kids, ages 6-14, about our local ecology since 1997. The campers spend their days paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, skim-boarding, surfing, and doing other fun experiential outdoor activities that put them in touch with nature. JOC Summer Adventure Camp is the only camp in the area accreditted by the American Camp Association, exemplifying their committment to child safety and program design. PBC Hotel Performance

Palm Beach County Ranked 2nd For Room Inventory Growth In State

For the month of June, Room Inventory Growth was 4.0%, ranking The Palm Beaches 2nd in the State; Rooms Nights Sold grew by 4.7%; and Occupancy was up 0.6% to 67.7%. The growth in rooms sold can be attributed to groups in market. Leisure demand was essentially flat. Discover The Palm Beaches contracted 12,351 room nights occurring in June (53% more than in 2015). From January - June 2016, Room Inventory Growth was 4.2%, which ranks The Palm Beaches 2nd in the State.

This month, the Public Relations department hosted four travel writers representing publications such as AM New York, Family Times Magazine and Parent and Child Magazine in efforts to highlight its current Palm Beach Summer campaign and the affordable luxury experiences available throughout the destination. The team also worked with its sister agency Environmental Resource Management (ERM) to garner media coverage of the newest diving gem in The Palm Beaches, the Ana Cecilia. Additionally, The Palm Beaches had a significant presence at the 4th Annual Luxury Luncheon event hosted by Jill Zarin to garner media and consumer exposure in the luxury market. Participation in this event focused on sharing information about the many luxury offerings available in The Palm Beaches, with a heavy focus on spa and wellness - just in time for our Spa & Wellness Month campaign announcement.
