On October 1st at the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa, FRLA hosted their "Tourism Breakfast" where Bill Talbert, President and CEO of Great Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau presented on VISITFLORIDA's strategic plan and key development impacting tourism in Miami and South Florida. As the new chair-elect of VISIT FLORIDA's Board, Bill also gave an update on what's new with the state's tourism marketing organization.

DTPB's Industry Relations team drove a few hours over to the "West Coast" to be with fellow Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) Partnership colleagues. This was a two and a half day summit where the focal point of all discussions were on Partnership. There, they heard what other Destination Marketing Organizations across the country are doing to help strengthen their Partnership relationships and how it can be applied to DTPB's Partnership programs. “Top Chef” Finalist Lindsay Autry and Restaurateur Thierry Beaud Team Up to Bring THE REGIONAL Kitchen & Public House to CityPlace

South Florida Chef Lindsay Autry is partnering with restaurateur Thierry Beaud to open THE REGIONAL Kitchen & Public House. THE REGIONAL is Autry’s first restaurant proprietorship and a new concept to add to Beaud's list of renowned dining establishments, which includes Pistache French Bistro and Paneterie Café and Bakery in West Palm Beach, PB Catch Seafood & Raw Bar and Patrick Leze- Palm Beach in Palm Beach, and a soon-to-be second Paneterie location in Delray Beach. THE REGIONAL will be opening Early 2016.

Palm Beach Swim Week Fashion Shows Run November 5-8, 2015

Presented by the Palm Beach Photographic Centre and the American Society of Media Photographers, and produced by Fusion Fashion & Art Productions, this year’s designers have been seen in Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Ocean Drive and Glamour in the UK. Up to 12 shows will be scheduled, of which more than half will be for emerging Palm Beach designers, all of which represent the Palm Beach tradition of quality and excellence. During SWIM WEEK’s Grand Finale on Nov. 8, 4 pageant titles will be presented: Miss Palm Beach Swim Week, Miss Palm Beach Fashion Week, Miss Florida Fashion and Miss Florida Fashion Model. On September 21st in Tucson, Arizona, the prestigious International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA)/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards Ceremony presented 17 awards for the Delray Beach Garlic Fest, Delray Beach Bacon & Bourbon Fest, Delray Beach Wine & Seafood Fest and Delray Affair held at the IFEA's 60th Anniversary Convention & Expo. All awards were in the top 3 placings for each of the four Delray Beach events. This professional competition draws entries from top events and festivals around the world.

Released on October 20th, Condé Nast Traveler gave readers their list of the Top 25 Resorts in Florida rated by over 128,000 travelers. The ratings were based upon rooms, service, location, food and dining, design, activities and facilities as well as value for their money. Chosen as the number 1 spot is none other than Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa. Along with the Eau, 4 other Palm Beach County Resorts made the list: The Breakers Palm Beach took the number 5 spot while the Four Season Resort Palm Beach was at 8 and The Boca Beach Club, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, was number 20. Palm Beach County currently ranks 2nd in the state for ADR Growth and 3rd in the state in Growth in Rooms Available compared to compared to January - September 2014.

  • Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) was $68, up 6.5% over 2014; positive for 68 consecutive months
  • Average Daily Rate (ADR) was $112, up 6.4% over 2014, positive for 28 consecutive months
  • Occupancy was 60.7%, flat 0.0%, positive 59 out of the last 70 months.

IMEX America - Las Vegas

The fifth IMEX America was recently held at the Sands Expo Center in the Venetian and Palazzo hotels in Las Vegas. This year's show was the biggest yet, with 80 new booths from around the globe and 3,100 exhibitors, representing 150 countries. In total, over 10,600 people participated in the event. Discover’s Nalini Dube-Borzym, Director of Sales, Midwest, and Sr. VP of Group Sales, Kelly Cavers were in attendance this year along with partners from both PGA National and Kirkland Events. The Palm Beach team had over 45 people visit the booth and received 8 new group business opportunities.

NECVB Reps Event - Boston, MA

As a member of the Northeast Convention and Visitors Bureau Representatives, Discover's Susan Carlson, Director of Sales for the Northeast and Canada, joined the group at The Empire in Boston for a networking event held for over 55 local meeting planners.

Tallahassee Sales Mission & FSAE Educational Expo - Tallahassee, FL

DTPB was well represented at the Florida State University Conference Center in Tallahassee during Florida Society of Association Executives’ (FSAE) Educational Expo that provided relative industry education along with a tradeshow opportunity putting us and our 11 hotel partners in front of Tallahassee’s top meeting planners. The following day Discover hosted a client event at the Fun Center where networking and comradery prevailed while Discover competed in an array of sporting events.

DTPB Welcomes Social Media Manager

Discover The Palm Beaches recently welcomed Vanecia Dodd as their Social Media Manager. Vanecia was most recently with Lynn University in Boca Raton as Social Media Coordinator where she spearheaded their social media strategy to recruit and retain students. Prior to Lynn, she was a Social Media and Marketing Consultant working with Fortune 500 companies developing strategies through new and existing channels to build brand awareness. Vanecia has a Master of Arts in Communications and Media from Lynn University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Media Studies from Barry University in Miami.

PR Team Travels To Promote The Palm Beaches

The PR Team led a Canadian Media Mission, where Director of Public Relations & Communications Ashley Svarney met with 16 key media representatives and participated in two VISIT FLORIDA media receptions to promote the destination to influential content creators and editorial decision makers. In addition, the team also worked with our destination tourism partners to host four media representatives, including journalists from Points North Atlanta Magazine, Travel Therapy with Karen Schaler, and Azul Airlines in-flight magazine. From a state-wide perspective, the team secured more than 23 media hits thanks to their new local media resource.
