Discover Team To Serve On Statewide Committees

Three Discover staff members have been appointed to VISIT FLORIDA industry committees along with four other industry leaders from The Palm Beaches including Lion Country Safari, PGA National Resort & Spa and Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council. Each committee works closely with a specific VISIT FLORIDA department to provide recommendations with their industry knowledge. Jorge Pesquera, who has been appointed chairman of the Meetings Committee says that "VISIT FLORIDA is committed to being industry-centric, and we applaud their continuing efforts to seek input and work collaboratively with their stakeholders." The Spa and Wellness Month will aim to increase community collaboration between the destination's tourism partners, in an effort to generate media buzz and drive tourism within key drive markets during its slow shoulder season. The Spa and Wellness Month campaign will include a robust digital advertising plan, press release inclusion, earned media impressions, social media engagement, listings on the Spa and Wellness Month landing page, an opportunity to participate in a consumer activation in The Hamptons and much more. DTPB is seeking spas to offer one unique treatment only available during Spa and Wellness Month with a price point between $50 - $150 and wellness and fitness entities to offer a unique wellness experience between $5 - $15. Second Annual Lake Worth Lagoon Photo Contest

Sponsored by Palm Beach County Department of Environmental Resources Management (ERM), the Lake Worth Lagoon Photo Contest is back! This contest is open to photographers of all skill levels and ages. ERM is seeking photographs of landscapes, underwater images, wildlife and people at the lagoon, which stretches some 20 miles from North Palm Beach to Ocean Ridge. All winning photos will be published in the 2017 Lake Worth Lagoon Calendar which will be available at the third annual LagoonFest on November 12, 2016. FPL's Manatee Lagoon Now Offers Art Classes

Manatee Lagoon is offering patrons onsite art classes twice weekly, providing class participants sweeping waterfront vistas of the Lake Worth Lagoon to help channel their creative energies. Adult classes are on Friday evenings; children's classes are Saturday afternoons. Guests will be invited to learn about the Lagoon and its ecosystem through artistic expression. Classes are $30 per two-hour session for adults; $15 for each 90-minute children's class. The registration fee covers all supplies. The awards were bestowed for the video Discover the Palm Beaches, The Perfect Place, produced by Olympusat in collaboration with the Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council. Narrated by actor Ray Liotta, the film features a number of tourism destinations and attractions including The Breakers, The Flagler Museum, Lion Country Safari, and the International Polo Club, as well as the stunning beaches and other Eco adventures throughout Palm Beach County.

Kolter Hospitality Receives Prestigious Strategic Partner Award From Hyatt Hotels

Kolter Hospitality has received the Strategic Partnership Award given by Hyatt Hotels Corporation at its annual owner's conference. The Strategic Partner award recognizes a company for its commendable culture, performance and operating philosophies, along with their strong, multi-brand relationship with Hyatt. Kolter Hospitality first collaborated with Hyatt in 2008 on Hyatt Place West Palm Beach/Downtown. Kolter has since built and currently operates Hyatt Place Delray Beach. In addition, Kolter is developing and is expected to open a Hyatt Place hotel in the Mizner Park area of Boca Raton in 2016. Palm Beach County Continues To Be Ranked 2nd For Room Inventory Growth In State

For the month of May, Room Inventory Growth was 4.0%, ranking The Palm Beaches as 2nd in the State. Room Nights Sold grew by 3.8%. ADR was slightly up to $140 which is a 0.4% positive change from 2015. RevPAR was flat at $97. Bed Tax Collections should be just around $3.1 million, a 3% increase from 2015. From January to May 2016, Occupancy was 78.7%; ADR was $206; Room Nights Sold has grown by 1.4% (ranking The Palm Beaches 5th in the State); Room Inventory Growth was 4.2% (ranking The Palm Beaches 2nd); and RevPAR was $162 (ranking The Palm Beaches 4th in the State).

Leila Cobo, editor of American Airlines' Spanish-language publication Nexos magazine, visited The Palm Beaches and met with Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa Executive Chef Josh Thomsen and Discover The Palm Beaches Manager, PR & Communications Angela Ledford. Angela Ledford also attended the Florida Sunshine District Conference for the Public Relations Society of America on June 16-18. The event featured professional development workshops presented by nationally-recognized experts in media relations, social media, crisis communications and more.
