In the Air On the Ground In the Water
Call it one of the busiest airports in Florida – only it’s not planes, the flyers coming in have feathers. The Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge is a Gateway Site on the Great Florida Birding Trail. The Refuge is one of 19 official Trail locations in The Palm Beaches. From bald eagles to rare Florida scrubs jays, see magnificent birds in flight.  It’s been here, and only here, for a few million years, but this is the year you explore one of the most unique ecosystems on the planet – The Florida Everglades. Hike the trails, canoe the waters, or just breathe easy in vast Grassy Waters Preserve. It’s just one of many picturesque places, preserves, parks, and natural areas to discover the Everglades. Wrecks, reefs, and colorful fish is what you see when diving the distinctive coastal waters of The Palm Beaches. If going underwater is not your thing, then simply stride above the water. Lake Worth Lagoon and the nationally designated Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River, are just two places to kayak, canoe, or go boating. And keep a sharp eye for the Lagoon’s Muck Monster.
