Incorporated in 1959, Royal Palm Beach is comprised of 11.5 square-miles, including 336 acres of parks and green spaces and 29 miles of waterways.
Royal Palm Beach has developed six parks. Additionally, Royal Palm Beach is home to a state-of-the-art cultural center, recreational center and two golf courses all within the city walls. A 747-acre pristine nature preserve offers visitors hiking and an equestrian trail. The preserve is located in the northwest corner of Royal Palm Beach. It has also been named Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation since 1990. The entire area within the Village limits is designated as a bird sanctuary.
Royal Palm Beach has diversified activities which enrich lifetime skills, physical development, and fulfillment of personal needs. Currently the Village of Royal Palm Beach has set a high standard of 10 acres of parkland per 1,000 residents. These parks are planned, functional, and designed with open space areas which are maintained at a high standard that serves the present and future needs of the residents.
