Pahokee
Pahokee is a tiny town located on the southeastern shores of Lake Okeechobee. In Seminole, the word Pahokee is translated as "Grassy Waters." Pahokee is often referred to as Palm Beach County's "Other" Coast, and is filled with acres of sand without the crowds typical of other beaches.
While driving into Pahokee, you will find yourself surrounded by seven miles of towering Royal Palm trees. The tropical climate of Pahokee gives off a cooling breeze from the lake as well as rich soil that is known as "muck". This organic soil creates a home for acres of Royal Palm trees, and creates that traditional Florida feel.
One of several towns along Lake Okeechobee, Pahokee is still considered off the beaten path. Residents find that newcomers and visitors are coming to Pahokee for its quiet balance and sanity. -Information courtesy of pahokee.com and Google Maps
