Wellington

The Village of Wellington is located in the western-most part of The Palm Beaches, sharing a southwestern boundary with the Florida Everglades.

With nearly 55,600 residents, Wellington has become one of the most successfully crafted communities in the County, known for its abundant parks, quality schools, attractive neighborhoods and equestrian interests.

In 1951, Charles Oliver Wellington, an accountant and investor from New York, purchased several tracts of land located just northeast of the Florida Everglades. Thanks
to state-mandated drainage and flood control initiatives, the formerly waterlogged area was soon transformed into fertile farmland.  Many crops – including the world’s largest
strawberry patch – were grown in the area that would eventually become Wellington.

Now recognized as one of the premier equestrian communities in the world, the Village of Wellington is home to the International Polo Club Palm Beach and the Palm Beach
International Equestrian Center.
